Studio Lionsgate deploys AI ποΈπ» - a revolution in movie making or the beginning of the end of originality π¬?
Studio Lionsgate, known for films like The Hunger Games and John Wick, has teamed up with AI firm Runway to create a new AI model that will be trained from their archive of films and series ποΈ.Β
The goal? To produce content faster and cheaper π‘. However, this move comes shortly after the Hollywood actors strike in 2023, where the potential impact of AI on the creative industry has raised major concerns π¬. Critics say AI could lead to job losses in the film industry and reduce the originality of films and TV shows π. On the other hand, supporters argue that AI can solve specific problems without pushing artists out of the game π».Β
Some industry leaders see this as a way to combine technology and filmmaking π€, which could bring new creative ideas π. However, it's not easy for Runway as it faces a lawsuit for allegedly using copyrighted material, which only adds fuel to the fire π₯ in the ethical debates about AI in the entertainment industry π₯.
And what do you think about this π€? In your opinion, does AI belong in the arts industry π¨?

AI Overview by Google π§ : Create a podcast from your notes with AI moderators π€ποΈ!
Google's NotebookLM app got a new feature called AI Overview ποΈ that will create an educational podcast based on your notes π. Just upload your document π and two AI presenters will start talking about its content, doing summaries, linking topics and leading a simple discussion about the material π§ .
This functionality uses Google's Gemini AI model to summarize written content π€. However, this is not a dry conversation, AI moderators use common language, add jokes π and phrases to make it a bit more interesting and engaging π§.
Of course, as is customary, it's not without flaws β οΈ. The podcast can take a few minutes to create β³, it's only available in English π¬π§ and the AI sometimes fails to handle more serious topics properly π€. Google has also warned that this feature does not provide a complete or objective view of the topic, but merely reflects your own notes that you had the podcast created from π.
Still, it offers an interesting, more interactive way to learn π‘. What about you? Will you give this new feature a try π?

LinkedIn and using user data to train AI models without their consent π€π‘οΈ.
LinkedIn has started using users' data to train AI models without permission π€, although users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland are not affected due to stricter privacy regulations π. For other users, LinkedIn has automatically signed them up to data collection for AI training purposes, for example to develop a writing assistant βοΈ.Β
Even though EU people's data is not used for AI training, it's still important to know LinkedIn's practices π§. Users outside of these areas need to "poke around" in the settings βοΈ, and manually log out twice to stop their data being used for AI training. However, data that has already been used remains in LinkedIn's systems ποΈ.Β
The move has raised privacy concerns for π‘οΈ, mainly due to a lack of clarity about how the data is used. What do you think about this π€?

OpenAI breaks records π: In the latest round of funding, they had to turn down investments due to an overabundance of investors π°πΈ!
OpenAI's latest round of funding generated so much interest that it was oversubscribed by millions of dollars π°π.Β
Investors wanted to contribute more than the $6.5 billion πΈ that OpenAI was asking for in this round, but only those who had at least $250 million to invest π€ were allowed to participate. This high demand shows how valuable and influential OpenAI has become in the field of artificial intelligence π€π‘.
The fact that some investors were left out of this round is indicative of the growing competition ποΈ in backing AI leaders, making this "fundraising" round a significant moment in the tech industry πβοΈ.

YouTube brings news π¨: New AI tools for content creators π!
YouTube comes with new AI tools π€ to make life easier for creators and help them create content faster and smarter β‘. One of the new features is Dream Screen, which will allow creators to easily create their own photo and video backgrounds π¨ for YouTube Shorts with just a simple prompt (instruction to the AI) π.
In addition, YouTube will soon introduce an AI feature that creates suggestions for videos π¬ that will be customized by creators based on trending content π. There is also a music recommendation tool πΆ that suggests audio recordings π based on the video description.
And if that's not enough, creators will be able to automatically translate and dub their videos into foreign languages thanks to AI, which will help them reach even more people π₯. These tools mark a big shift in how creators plan, create and share content on YouTube π€. We think these new tools are a blast, and what do you think π₯?
