Studio Lionsgate deploys AI πŸŽžοΈπŸ’» - a revolution in movie making or the beginning of the end of originality 😬?

Studio Lionsgate, known for films like The Hunger Games and John Wick, has teamed up with AI firm Runway to create a new AI model that will be trained from their archive of films and series 🎞️.

The goal? To produce content faster and cheaper πŸ’‘. However, this move comes shortly after the Hollywood actors strike in 2023, where the potential impact of AI on the creative industry has raised major concerns 😬. Critics say AI could lead to job losses in the film industry and reduce the originality of films and TV shows πŸ“‰. On the other hand, supporters argue that AI can solve specific problems without pushing artists out of the game πŸ’».Β

Some industry leaders see this as a way to combine technology and filmmaking 🀝, which could bring new creative ideas πŸ’. However, it's not easy for Runway as it faces a lawsuit for allegedly using copyrighted material, which only adds fuel to the fire πŸ”₯ in the ethical debates about AI in the entertainment industry πŸ”₯.

And what do you think about this πŸ€”? In your opinion, does AI belong in the arts industry 🎨?

AI Overview by Google 🧠: Create a podcast from your notes with AI moderators πŸ€–πŸŽ™οΈ!

Google's NotebookLM app got a new feature called AI Overview πŸŽ™οΈ that will create an educational podcast based on your notes πŸ“š. Just upload your document πŸ“„ and two AI presenters will start talking about its content, doing summaries, linking topics and leading a simple discussion about the material 🧠.

This functionality uses Google's Gemini AI model to summarize written content πŸ€–. However, this is not a dry conversation, AI moderators use common language, add jokes πŸ˜„ and phrases to make it a bit more interesting and engaging 🎧.

Of course, as is customary, it's not without flaws ⚠️. The podcast can take a few minutes to create ⏳, it's only available in English πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and the AI sometimes fails to handle more serious topics properly πŸ€”. Google has also warned that this feature does not provide a complete or objective view of the topic, but merely reflects your own notes that you had the podcast created from πŸ“‘.

Still, it offers an interesting, more interactive way to learn πŸ’‘. What about you? Will you give this new feature a try πŸ”?

LinkedIn and using user data to train AI models without their consent πŸ€”πŸ›‘οΈ.

LinkedIn has started using users' data to train AI models without permission πŸ€–, although users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland are not affected due to stricter privacy regulations πŸ”. For other users, LinkedIn has automatically signed them up to data collection for AI training purposes, for example to develop a writing assistant ✍️.Β

Even though EU people's data is not used for AI training, it's still important to know LinkedIn's practices 🧐. Users outside of these areas need to "poke around" in the settings βš™οΈ, and manually log out twice to stop their data being used for AI training. However, data that has already been used remains in LinkedIn's systems πŸ—‚οΈ.Β

The move has raised privacy concerns for πŸ›‘οΈ, mainly due to a lack of clarity about how the data is used. What do you think about this πŸ€”?

OpenAI breaks records πŸš€: In the latest round of funding, they had to turn down investments due to an overabundance of investors πŸ’°πŸ’Έ!

OpenAI's latest round of funding generated so much interest that it was oversubscribed by millions of dollars πŸ’°πŸš€.Β

Investors wanted to contribute more than the $6.5 billion πŸ’Έ that OpenAI was asking for in this round, but only those who had at least $250 million to invest πŸ€‘ were allowed to participate. This high demand shows how valuable and influential OpenAI has become in the field of artificial intelligence πŸ€–πŸ’‘.

The fact that some investors were left out of this round is indicative of the growing competition 🏎️ in backing AI leaders, making this "fundraising" round a significant moment in the tech industry πŸŒβš™οΈ.

YouTube brings news 🎨: New AI tools for content creators πŸš€!

YouTube comes with new AI tools πŸ€– to make life easier for creators and help them create content faster and smarter ⚑. One of the new features is Dream Screen, which will allow creators to easily create their own photo and video backgrounds 🎨 for YouTube Shorts with just a simple prompt (instruction to the AI) πŸ“.

In addition, YouTube will soon introduce an AI feature that creates suggestions for videos 🎬 that will be customized by creators based on trending content πŸ“ˆ. There is also a music recommendation tool 🎢 that suggests audio recordings πŸ”Š based on the video description.

And if that's not enough, creators will be able to automatically translate and dub their videos into foreign languages thanks to AI, which will help them reach even more people πŸ‘₯. These tools mark a big shift in how creators plan, create and share content on YouTube πŸ“€. We think these new tools are a blast, and what do you think πŸ’₯?
